Welcome to ICAN of San Diego!The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization that was founded by Esther Booth Zorn in 1982. ICAN's Mission StatementTo improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). ICAN's Vision StatementA healthy reduction of the cesarean rate driven by women making evidence-based, risk appropriate childbirth decisions. The International Cesarean Awareness Network is a vibrant and growing network of mother-to-mother volunteers, passionate advocates and women who care deeply about the state of birth today. The International Cesarean Awareness Network is a non-profit advocacy and support group whose mission is to improve maternal and child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, provide support for cesarean recovery, and promote vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Our San Diego chapter of ICAN meets monthly in various locations around SD to address all of the aforementioned issues and to provide support and advocacy to women and their families.
